| Personal History | Nathan Zachariah Wolf is the child of two academics whose stepfather introduced him to martial arts and shooting sports, taught him about the outdoors. Nathan, or “Zack” as his friends and family called him, took to these things with a passion. While there was no amatuer ‘MMA’ organization for him to compete in using the Filipino Martial Arts he was learning, his stepfather got him into boxing as well, and by age ten Zack was competing in Silver Glove bouts. By sixteen, Zack was competing in Golden Glove bouts. Part of Zack’s martial arts training included grappling. To give Zack an opportunity to really see what he could do, his stepfather encouraged him to join the wrestling team in 7th grade. Zack attended the USAF Academy, where, to his chagrin, he was forced to choose between wrestling and boxing. He ultimately chose wrestling, but also spent time with the Judo Club. Zack majored in Political Science and graduated in 1994. Zack was accepted into the Combat Control Officer pipeline and by the time he was a Captain, he was assigned to the elite 24th Special Tactics Squadron and worked alongside Delta Force and DEVGRU in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. During this time, Zack also attended Squadron Officer School, Weapons School, and the Joint Terminal Attack Controller Course. Following his promotion to Major, Zack attended Air Command and Staff College and earned a Master of Military Operational Art and Science, before returning to the Special Tactics community and serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon being promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, Zack was given command of the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, and on promotion to Colonel, Zack was given command of the 24th Special Operations Wing. In 2019, based on his experience and training as both a leader and a special operator, Zack was assigned to Project New Dawn to head up Stargate Command.
