Character Creation

Hello! If you're on this page, then I'm betting you want to create a character for an application to join Project New Dawn. That great! We'd love to see what you come up with. To help improve your chances of having your application accepted, please look over the rules and guidelines below.

1. Please make your character a believable age for their level of experience, education, and training. Please give your character a believable amount of education, training, and experience for their age. No Doogie Howser characters, no Mary Sue characters, no Buckaroo Banzai characters, and no characters who resemble in anyway illegitimate love children produced by the union of Mary Sue and either of these two gentlemen.
2. Military characters must be from either the United States Air Force, the United States Army, or the United States Marine Corps. No US Navy or foreign military characters will be accepted at this time. This is a hard and fast rule.
3. Military members of SG Teams should be from a ground combat element, preferably special operations (USAF Special Tactics, US Army Special Forces, US Army Delta, US Army Regimental Reconnaissance Company, USMC Raider Regiment, USMC Force Recon. Aviation Officers assigned to the teams maybe be USAF pilots who have also completed Air Liaison Officer training, US Army Commissioned Officer pilots from 160th SOAR who have completed Green Team Training (I think that's what it's called) or USMC pilots (but please make sure that the character's backstory supports the idea that the character knows how to take long, quiet walks into denied areas and survive). Links may be provided on the links page. However if they are not, these units have Wikipedia pages that you can google for background on your character.
4. There are only so many spots for officers on SG Teams and even in other military departments. This may not be evident from our manifest, depending what state it's in. Please contact the CO (Asher/Wolf) in our Discord server (link on main page). Be prepared to be asked to consider playing a Non-Commissioned Officer.
5. Security Forces Squadron: There are 3 positions for officers (1 Major, 1 Captain, 1 2nd or 1st Lieutenant), 2 positions for Senior NCOs (Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, Chief Master Sergeant), 2 positions for NCOs (Staff Sergeant, Technical Sergeant), as well as positions for Senior Airmen and Airmen (Airman and Airman 1st Class). There are 4 positions for USAF Phoenix Ravens (Senior Airman to Master Sergeant). Please google the following in order to make your character as accurate as possible: USAF Security Forces (Wikipedia available), 820th Base Defense Group (Wikipedia), Phoenix Ravens (various articles). In addition to providing security for the base and for Project New Dawn, the Security Forces Squadron provides ground support for SG Teams as needed.
6. Office of Special Investigations: USAF OSI is responsible for Criminal Investigations, Procurement Fraud Investigations, and Counterintelligence. The OSI Detachment assigned to Project New Dawn is primarily responsible for Counterintelligence but will conduct other investigations as needed. OSI is staffed by Commissioned Officer Special Agents, Enlisted Special Agents (Senior Airman to Chief Master Sergeant), and Civilian Special Agents. They do not wear military uniforms and they do not usually use ranks when they refer to each other, usually using the title “Special Agent” instead.
7. Medical and Engineering Characters will more often than not be military officers and enlisted personnel, though apps for civilian characters will be considered.
8. Science can be either civilian or military.
9. Archaeology will be staffed by civilians.
10. Death Glider Squadron is not currently available.
