The Most Bizarre Threesome Ever

Posted on Fri Mar 15th, 2019 @ 4:35am by Brigadier General Nathan Wolf & Civillian Dr. Jessica Andrews

Mission: Aftermath
Location: Biaggis Restaurant, Colorado Springs
Timeline: The Night Before Snow Day

Nathan opened the door to the restaurant for Jessica and Salara in ahead of him. Nathan took her coat and hung it up and then his own. He checked to make sure both of them were empty. He turned to Jessica/Salara. "Since I know there's no way to stop Jessica from laughing her ass off when the hostess calls you two my daughter in someway shape or form, I agree not to be irritated when that happens."

Jessica smiled and spoke in a more natural, yet exotic accent. "Not to worry, Nathan. I have an accent I use around people who are still somewhat... fearful. I believe we do not want to make a scene here, wouldn't you agree?"

Nathan nodded. The hostess greeted them and then led them to a booth and they both sat. "I eat here sometimes when I work late and don't want to deal with cooking dinner. The food is pretty good, so hopefully Salara's first experience with real--well, realish Italian food will be a good one."

The waitress came, brought them menus, and asked what they wanted to drink. She asked if Nathan wanted to look at the wine list. He said yes, but that he'd select wine after they'd chosen their meal.

"This must all be a little strange for both of you," Nathan said as he looked over the menu. "One of you is seeing things for the first time outside of the other's memory, and the other is seeing sights and smelling smells for the first time in years."

Salara spoke. "We all make sacrifices for the greater good, General. They are not easy. Jessica had to make many sacrifices, some wounded her so much, I could feel her deep agony inside." She spoke quietly so no one would hear.

"As much as I sometimes find her impulsiveness abrasive at times, I can see how her experiences have made her stronger. That said, and no offense intended, Jessica, but living in her head must be challenging at times. She's a strong spirit, but as I said, impulsive. I really need help, Jake really needs help keeping her on task and not ten moves ahead."

"And such the struggle I have... Trying to temper her fire. It's what drew me to her to begin with. She's so like what I was." Salara noted. "In time, she'll learn from my knowledge and wisdom, She's had five years to absorb it, but it will take twenty more for her mind to comprehend the breadth of my lifetimes."

"She is young," Nathan said. "I was pretty brash in my twenties, even into my thirties. What tempered my impulsiveness was have other people's lives in my hands. Most of the decisions I made on a mission could not only affect the outcome of a much larger mission, but also get men that I worked with everyday, whose weddings I'd been to, whose children called me by my first name, my decisions could get people killed. Once I realized that I became less impulsive quickly, fortunately without going the other direction and becoming too timid. Jessica is used to working alone. Yes, her decisions affected a larger picture, but now her actions will have a more immediate effect. People she works with everyday will depend on her sticking to plans and pulling her weight. I don't doubt her knowledge or education or training or anything she's learned from you. What it really boils down to is trust. She needs to be able to trust us and we need to be able to trust her. And I think we'll get there if we all keep working at it." Nathan smiled. "However, before we go down that rabbit hole, what would you like to eat? I can try to tell you what some of this is if you'd like any explanations."

"I would like this, Eggplant Parmigana Jessica has obsessed over for five years." She smiled.

"Excellent choice," Nathan said. When the waitress came, Nathan ordered for Salara, not because he was a caveman, but because this was her first time at an Earth restaurant and it would spare them any awkward moments. He ordered Ravioli Quatro Formaggi. Nathan ordered a decent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for them to share. The waitress brought it for him to taste, which he did, but then he indicated that Salara should be given the opportunity to taste it for herself. As earlier remarked, Nathan was not a caveman.

"Incredible." Salara noted as she tasted it. "It is these little things worth defending, General. So many worlds have been unable to partake in such prosperity, because they're slave worlds."

"Uh...slave worlds?" the waitress asked. She looked at Nathan.

"She's had a long day," he said. "Help me show her a good time tonight and I'll keep that in mind when I pay the bill. We'll take the bottle. Thanks."

The waitress hesitated, then filled both of their glasses. Smiled nervously at Salara, left the bottle, and went to see if their order was almost ready. The guy was going to tip as well as it sounded like he would, he could date crazy if he wanted to.

As soon as the waitress thought she was out of sight, The waitress whipped out her phone and started...Tweeting, Nathan assumed. He chuckled. "Well, that's going to go viral. Won't be much of a problem, but she might take your picture and tweet that. That could be a problem. I'll have OSI get into it first thing in the morning. If I go over there and start throwing my weight around or something, it's just going to make it more memorable. For now, let's just enjoy a nice bottle of wine and a good meal."

"Pardon me, It must have slipped." She whispered. "An old mind tends to do that."

"No worries," Nathan said. "So, you don't have much contact with the other Tok'Ra I'd assume, from what I've heard both Jessica and you. Do you miss them?"

"I do, and I miss them terribly." Salara noted. "But they are dying, General, and it's not old age that is killing the Tok'Ra. General. If you had a choice between defeating all your enemies tomorrow, knowing it may cost you your very soul. But letting your enemies live, and keeping your heart true... what would you choose?" Salara mentioned. "There are too many precious things in life to throw away in constant warfare. You are born, you live, and you die. Each person must decide for themselves, if the world is more important than themselves. Would you destroy yourself to defeat your enemy, and spend the last hundred years of your life wondering if it was worth it when your old, and you regret." Salara bowed her head. "The reason I do not speak much is when I was young, no one held more rage than I did towards them." Salara made sure the waitress was out of earshot. "Then I meet Jessica, when I volunteered for a mission I knew would mean the death of me. I was prepared to meet my end, and I would leave the form I took so I could stare in Ba'al's eyes as he died. But then... Jessica didn't want me to die. She refused to let go of me. General, Jessica may be brash, impulsive, and impatient, but she did drag an old snake like me out of the grave and made me face my past."

"And I'm glad she did," Nathan said. The waitress brought them their food and left, giving Salara a strange look before she was gone, probably tweeting again. Nathan smiled. "Okay, I want to know if you like it before I start in on mine."

Jessica began to eat the food. "Mmm... It's so much more than what Jessica's memories could ever describe." Salara then looked at the Waitress. "Excuse me General, I believe I must use the women's room." She stood up and began to move through the restaurant, as she walked past the waitress, she bumped into her on purpose and covertly cracked her iPhone's screen, then proceeded to the women's room.

Nathan saw the 'accident' and tried not to laugh as he dug into is own food and waited for Salara and Jessica to return.

Jessica came back with a smile. "There we go. Now I believe our evening has just become even more pleasant." She said with a wink as she consumed more of her meal. "We need to do a formal date sometime. Me in a dress, you in that impressive military uniform. My mother always adored men in uniform and it's a family thing."

"Then we'll have to find the time," Nathan said with a smile. "More wine?"

"Sure, but I don't get drunk general. I'm literally a cheat in a drinking contest." Jess noted. "If I wanted to, I could turn my college sorority upside down."

Nathan laughed and topped off Jessica's glass. Or was it Salara's? With Salara muting the metallic echo of her normal voice, Nathan was actually starting to have trouble knowing which one he was talking to when. It was like being on a date with identical twins who kept switching places with each other...except Jessica and Salara were far from identical. "Well, while I've been known to wine and dine a woman, getting her blind drunk so she's not competent to say yes or no is not something I do anyway. So as long as you enjoy the wine, the food, and just maybe the company, I'm happy."

Salara spoke in her calm demeanor. "I do enjoy your company, General. Greatly. I never knew I'd be happy again in my later years until I came to Earth."

"Well," Nathan said. "I'm betting you've earned more than a little happiness Salara. It's something most hardworking decent people deserve. I think we both qualify as hardworking and decent."

Salara raised her glass to eye level towards Nathan.

Nathan raised his glass and clinked Salara's, and the two shared the happiness of could food and good company.
